Time Flies When You're Havin' Fun!

Dear Backers,

Time is flying by and we're long overdue for an update (@John: Thanks for the reminder)!

For the last month or so we've been working overtime on BioGlo to get everything ready. While much of the work isn't particularly newsworthy (e.g. working out kinks in the supply chain), we do have a few updates we think you'll be interested to hear.

User Manual

Wait, what? The user manual is arguably the most boring part of any product; most people never crack the book before it hits the trash heap. So, you say.. why are we talking about it!?

Well, we're committed to making your experience with BioGlo as seamless and fun as possible, and we know there's more to that than just an awesome bioluminescent aquarium. To make your unboxing experience as great as your microbial experience, we're packing as much quality content (interesting and educational) into the user manual as we can!

One thing we're focused on is providing you with the guidance needed to ensure that your microbes remain as happy and healthy as possible. Shown above is one of many experiments we've been conducting to learn more about how the microbes respond under certain conditions. 

We're combining our own experimental observations with other researchers' data to put together the best possible conditions and recommendations for maintaining your dinos' health.

BaseLight Developments

We've made some major architectural changes to the BaseLight that we hope you'll get excited about. As we started working through the design of the system, we realized that the user interface for our original BaseLight was going to feel a little clunky and not intuitive. 

To that end, we've decided to add a BlueTooth connection and mobile app to the product. Shown below are a few renders from the app to give you a glimpse of how easy it will be to set your BaseLight's timer function, receive notifications (or not), and control many different parameters to make your dinos feel at home.

Production  

Due to the nature of our assembly process, we needed to find a means of sterilizing the entire product after the aquarium is assembled to eliminate certain types of microbes that can shorten the dinos' lifespan. Many sterilization techniques can be quite expensive, so we were concerned about finding a cost-effective solution.  

Our manufacturing partner has been really great, and they helped us investigate various technological options to quickly resolve the issue. Now that we've cleared some of the last remaining manufacturing hurdles, we're ready for production ramp up!

Expect to hear from us again soon as we get nearer to receiving first shots of the product and fine tune the assembly and packaging. We hope you're as excited as we are - stay tuned!

Hi everyone,

WOW, what a finish!!  We crossed the $60K mark just in the nick of time at around 11:55pm last night.  Because of you, we'll be able to bring BioGlo to life along with awesome extras, like the BaseLight and sheath.  Once again, thank you all so much for your backings, your comments, your suggestions, and your words of support.   

Now the fun begins.  We're already working hard with our manufacturing partners to get rewards out as quickly as possible. We'll be keeping you updated with major milestones all along the way.

We'll keep this message short for now, but we'll be back in touch soon.  Until then, stay tuned and get stoked for your BioGlos!   Again, THANK YOU for making this happen!!!!

Out with a bang!

Happy New Year Everyone!

With less than 100 hours left in the campaign, we are very excited to be nearing the finish line. We've had a lot of fun with this Kickstarter, so the end will be bittersweet for us.

But it's not over yet! We have one final announcement to make as the countdown gets underway. Help us reach our third and final stretch goal of $55k by upvoting us on Product Hunt and we will include the BioGlo Sheath as a free accessory with every reward tier. 

Like a sleeping mask for your microbes, the Sheath can be coupled with the BaseLight to help control lighting conditions and ensure a healthy circadian rhythm. Of course, it also serves as a stylish carrying pouch for when you are transporting your BioGlo to show it off.
